What????

"Forbes Rates Chicago 3rd Most Miserable City"

Yep, that's the headline. The article goes on to cite reasons as sales tax, public corruption, the weather, the unemployment rate and the fact that it's been 100+ years since the Cubs won a world series.

Sure, all of that is true...the sales tax is ridiculously high and well, what can we say about the corruption in current Illinois government, but that isn't specific to Chicago lately. Yes, the University of Chicago medical center just announced layoffs, but isn't it a down economy everywhere?

But the rest?? Everyone in Chicago knows the Cubs haven't won a world series in 100+ years, and yeah, that stinks, but enough to be miserable? No...the fans still show up at the games and have a great time. Miserable? Have you seen fans at a Cubs game? There's no misery, alot of beer, yes, but no misery.

An the weather? Yes, it's cold in January. BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT. No one moves here for the winters. Sometimes, you get a glorious day like today, February 10th and almost 60 degrees.

Come on, Forbes, Chicago is an amazing city. We might not be happy all the time, but we love our city!!!

Seriously, I take great offense to that...Chicago is great! No just because I live here, but because I've compared it to so many other cities I've visited and it's much cleaner than NYC, has a gorgeous lakefront, people are nice...what gives Forbes??
